Top 5 Nike Footwear Options for the Summer

With the summer well underway, your footwear options are no longer limited by the cold and rainy weather of the last 6 months. As a result, finding the perfect pair of kicks to rock over the coming holidays is a big deal, but we have you covered. Here are our top 5 picks for the best Nike footwear options to wear this summer.

5. Nike Air Max 90

This list had to feature at least one Air Max sneaker, and we thought the Air Max 90 would be most suitable for the summer. Its 90s style and use of bright colours make it ideal for the summertime, and its range of colorways to choose from guarantees that everyone can find a pair they like. Its mesh and leather upper create a stylish and durable silhouette, that is also extremely comfortable and well ventilated. It’s one of the chunkier models on this list, but its roots as a running sneaker make it perfect for any athleisure look you might want to rock.

4. Nike Waffle One

The Nike Waffle One is the newest silhouette on this list, however, it takes inspiration from one of Nike’s earliest works. Influenced by the Nike Waffle Trainer that was released in 1973, the Waffle One sports a modern look with callbacks to Nike’s roots. Its mesh and suede upper will keep you cool in the warmer months as well as make sure you’re looking good, and the chunky sole is reminiscent of the Nike x Sacai LDV Waffle’s that released in 2019. If you are tired of all the ultra-popular Nike models and want something new, then the Nike Waffle One is a great call. They fit mostly true to size, but are slightly narrow around the forefoot, so it may be worth going up half a size if you have wider feet.

3. Nike Air Force 1

At our number 3 spot is the Nike Air Force 1, one of the most iconic sneaker silhouettes ever created. Originally released in 1982, the Air Force 1 is most famous for its all-white colorway that is practically made for the summer. With that being said, however, there are a plethora of Air Force 1 colorways to choose from, including React editions that implement Nike’s React cushioning in the midsole. This should hopefully keep your feet well cushioned and comfortable on any long walks you might want to do whilst the weather's nice. The only reason this sneaker isn’t higher on this list is that it can get pretty humid, as its chunky leather make-up offers little in the way of ventilation. But if style is what you're after, then this has to be your shoe for the summer.

2. Nike Victori One Slide

If you’re doing a list of the top 5 Nike footwear options for the summer, slides need to make an appearance at some point right? There is nothing better than letting your feet breathe in the fresh air, should you be bathing on a beach, or chilling in your garden. The Victoria One is our personal favourite slide, thanks to its contoured footbed that should prevent your feet from slipping around, and its soft foam build that gives you an extra bit of comfort.

Otherwise, though, the Victori One sticks to the basics and doesn’t mess around too much with the slide formula. It is available in plenty of colorways and is suitable for hard and soft ground, so you can wear them wherever you go. The Victori One slide also has quite a wide strap that should accommodate all foot sizes, and for only CAD 40, it is by far the cheapest option on this list.

1. Nike Air Presto

The best Nike footwear choice for the summer, however, has to be the Nike Air Presto. First released back in 2000, the Air Presto was designed by Tobie Hatfield in an attempt to create a sneaker that provided the best possible fit. Nike achieved this by using a stretchable, one-piece upper that stuck to your foot like a sock. This makes the upper extremely comfortable, and whilst it was originally intended for running, it now makes the sneaker perfect for everyday use. The shoe also stands out thanks to its bright 2000’s inspired colorways, which we think make it a great option for the summer. If you are interested, you can find the standard Nike Air Presto, as well as a react edition for CAD 170.
