When you're looking for cool clothes for your hip-hop lifestyle you will need to check out Coogi. This brand was hot in Europe and Australia before they came to New York. Coogi clothes were designed with the young urban man in mind but they have clothes that will appeal to both male and female.
For many Coogi is lifestyle that is a bit different from what is normally out there in street wear. It has bright colors and vibrant patterns that you would expect from an Australian brand. It has the wild and authenticity of what you would expect for this country. In 2003, Coogi was acquired by the Weisfeld group and their mission was to create an upscale clothing for high end appeal. They chose to work with the design houses in Milan and New York to produce the look they felt was important for the urban young man today.
They wanted to fulfill four fundamental factors with their clothes. They first wanted to use vibrant colors and combine this with movement. They choose patterns that have different depths and positions and a luxurious texture that is smooth to the touch and feels very comfortable. According to their fans they have done what they started out to do.
Central to Coogi style is their sweaters because they have an unusual knitting technique that uses twisted yarn and this is as recognizable to their style as their logo. Coogi sweaters are some of the most beautiful that you will find. The colors are vibrant reds, golds, blues and purples and the movement in the sweaters are smooth. When you look at them, you can see the patterns of nature with the way the pattern flows together to make a very attractive design.
Woven shirts are as intricately made as the sweaters. They have a basic color for a background and lots of swirls and themes from nature. For an example, the Parrot Jungle Group Jungle Woven shirt shows swirls interspersed with images of trees, flowers and ferns. To the right is a large parrot off setting the rest of the shirt. The pattern is blue with gold accents. The shirt can be accented with a hat like the If Luxe Could Kill - "Majestic" Hat or something different.
Although Coogi clothing geared their first clothing line towards the urban male, they now are developing a line for women. Right now they are listing a small line of denim shorts, and jeans. As an example, their Core Group - Rainbow Stitch w Suspenders is a very cute item and there will be more items for women in The If Luxe Could Kill line.
Coogi keeps an eye on trends and they pay attention to their customer interest while staying close to their core values and making sure they weave the classic with the new. When you think Coogi clothing think luxury, sport and sophistication. If you are a man or woman on the go, these clothes will accent your movements. Coogi is a fashion label known for its colorful knitwear. Founded in 1969 as Cuggi in Toorak, Melbourne, Australia, the label was renamed in 1987 to sound more like an indigenous Australian name. While most famous for its textured knitwear (including many of the sweaters Bill Cosby wore on The Cosby Show) in the 1980s, the brand was popularized in the U.S. as urban hip-hop wear. In addition to clothing, the company's 1992 international trademark filing registered the brand for cosmetics and toiletries, leather, furniture, textiles, and toys. The brand struggled after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and was purchased by a joint U.S venture, Coogi Partners LLC in 2002, by an investment group led by Jimmy Khezri. Under its new ownership, the label has taken a significantly more urban direction. Coogi now produces a wide range of urban t-shirts, jeans and jackets in addition to their trademark knitwear.
